Every lock in Silver Pines opens with a code you can find in the world, and this guide lists all of them with where each clue hides, plus how the multi-step puzzles actually work. One code is different for everyone: the Crimson Bear Motel gate reads a number from Eddie's row in the guest ledger, which the game randomizes per save. Everything else is fixed. Start from the Silver Pines guide hub for our other coverage, and see every game we cover for more walkthroughs.

How the big puzzles work
The five puzzles people get stuck on, in the order you meet them:
- Freezer (2311): the note says 23 and the calendar marks the 11th. Juxtapose them, do not add them.
- Painting safe: four paintings each pair a theme word with a number. Enter 15, 7, 3, 10, and reverse your dial direction after every number. The manual page in the sheriff's basement tells you the direction rule.
- Holding cells (3100): pry badge 0013 from the drowned man's teeth in the morgue, read it backwards. The projector's license plate hints at the reversal.
- Supervisor lockbox (1C 3A 2A 3C): each newspaper cutout describes a tenant (the artist, the cat lady, the writer, the paranoid one). Find which apartment each story belongs to by checking the rooms.
- The seven bells: five bells are rewards (A after the projector boss, B in the church tower, D from feeding the hole in the 4B dream, E behind the sewer main gate, F from the statue puzzle). Hang them on the labeled hooks and ring in plaque order: E G D C F A B. That opens the gondola to the mountain.
Two more that cost people hours: the sluice gate needs the Heavy Mechanical Cog from the sewers plus the Crank Handle, with all three gears pushed to the bottom before you turn. And the Thelend stage light wants cyan flipped up with magenta and yellow down, which combines into the red light that reveals the hidden door.
Key items that are easy to miss
- Crank Handle: behind the cracked wall in the Church Hill rundown house (bring the sledgehammer for the wall). It also works the well and the Town Hall clock.
- Gear Box: inside the diner shed lockbox (1972). It fixes the boat engine, which is your fast travel.
- Badge 0013: crowbar it from the drowned man's teeth in the morgue.
- Ring Box and seven Stars: the box is in the Miner Diner bathroom; the stars are scattered as listed in the hub guide. Two gold rings go in the Rabbit Hole stage dents for the hidden ending.
- Three lenses at Thelend: cyan in the storage room, yellow at the antenna tower top, magenta on the table down the well passage.
The three endings in brief
- Leave: the default. Win the final fight and kill Eddie.
- Live: collect all 25 mementos, then let Drew burn them.
- Rest (hidden): complete the Ring Box with seven stars for the first gold ring, spare Eddie and take the second from Alice, then set both rings into the Rabbit Hole stage.
FAQ
Is the motel gate code the same for everyone?
No. It is the only randomized code in the game: look up Eddie Velvet's row in the guest ledger at the motel check-in desk. One author's run showed 52432, yours will differ.
Do puzzles change on higher difficulties?
No. Difficulty changes damage, ammo, and resource numbers only; every code and puzzle solution is identical on Relaxed through Nightmare.
Can I finish the hidden ending in one run?
Yes, if you know the conditions in advance: spare Eddie (Leave requires killing him, so Rest and Leave are mutually exclusive in one playthrough), collect all seven stars for the Ring Box, and carry both gold rings to the Rabbit Hole stage.
